Formulation and Evaluation of Herbal face Pack

ABSTRACT:
The main objective of this article is to formulate and evaluate an effective herbal face pack for glowing skin by using natural ingredients in varying concentrations, ingredients such as multanimitti, turmeric, aloe vera, sandal wood, orange peel, neem and nutmug ets. Ayurvedic formulations are safer than synthetic formulation because its side effect is very low. This prepared formulation is evaluated through the some important parameters like as Organoleptic, Phytochemical, Physicochemical, and Physical Characteristics. The main purpose of Herbal face packs are to remove the dark circle, Pimples, Scars, through the increase blood circulation and maintained it and the rejuvenates the skin and remove dirt particles from the skin pores.

INTRODUCTION:
Now a days, The Herbs are widely used as remedial agents because herbs are easily available at less expensive. The herbs are used from the ancient time for cleaning, beautifying and the treatment of various skin disease.[1] The skin of the face is the major part of the body but some common skin diseases are Acne, black head, pimples, dark circle are seen in youngsters and these dark circle reduce the fairness of the face. According to Ayurveda, Skin problems are normally due to environmental factors and free radicals in blood.[2] In ancient times, the women were very conscious about their beauty and treat the facial skin problems through the medicated herbs like as- neem, aloe vera, tulsi, orange peel, rose and some for blood purification herbs like Manjistha, Chandana, Turmeric and some rock salts.[3,4] The herbal cosmetic are main advantages, it is pure and does not have any side effects on the human body.
A good herbal face pack must supply necessary nutrients to skin and produce glow on face, the process of smearing of these herbs mix on face is known as “mukhalepana”. It is a beauty therapy and is very popular name as facial.[5] The different types of skin conditions are need different types of herbal face packs because the some face pack are not suit for the specific type of skin.[6] The face pack are increase the blood circulation of veins of the face and provide the necessary nutrients to the skin for growth of new cells and healthy.[7,8] These packs are available in various types and forms and broadly classified into the following categories-
1. Plastic masks: Wax based, latex based, or vinyl based
2. Hydrocolloid masks: Gel masks (ready to use)
3. Argillaceous masks: Clay based or earth based (ready to use or dry powder)

Present research article deals with the formulation and evaluation of cosmetic herbal face pack for glowing skin at home by using natural materials i.e., multanimitti, turmeric, Aloevera, sandalwood, orange peel, neem and nutmeg.[12]
Benefits of Face Pack:
1. The face pack is providing the Nourishment to the skin.
2. It helps to reduce, acne, pimple, scars and marks depending on its herbal ingredients. The neem and tulsi help to reduce acne and pimple and control the over discharge of sebum from sebaceous glands and remove the harmful bacteria inside acne lesion. The scars and marks of skin can be reduced by adding fine powder of sandal, rose petals.
3. Its help to remove the dead cells from facial skin.
4. These are providing a soothing and relaxing effect on skin.
5. The face pack are used regularly for glow, improve skin texture and complexion.
6. The harmful effects of pollution and harsh climates can be reduced by the use of face pack.
7. They help to prevent premature aging of skin.
8. They prevent the formation of wrinkles, fine lines and sagging of skin.[9]
Precautions:
Some precautions are useful for better skin glowing, cleaning, and nourishment.
1. The face pack is used according to your skin type.
2. Concerned to the skin expert before use of any natural therapy on face.
3. Maximum 15-20 minutes stay on face and after that wash the face and completely remove the medicaments.
4. When you are applied face pack on face then the face should be completely dried.
5. Do not scrub vigorously.
6. Avoid applying face pack near “eye zone” because the skin around eye is very fragile. The process of removing face pack may damage skin around the eyes.[2.10,11]
Ingredients:
Some important ingredients are used for the preparation of effective face pack –
· Multani Mitti (Calcium bentonite):
Multani Mitti are easily available and helps in diminishing pore sizes, removing blackheads and whiteheads fading freckles, soothing sunburns, cleansing skin, improving blood circulation, complexion, reducing acne and blemishes and gives a glowing effect on skin as they contain healthy nutrients. Multani mitti is a best natural source of magnesium chloride.[13]
· Turmeric (Curuma longa):
Turmeric is mainly used to rejuvenate the skin. It is used to cure of skin disease like wrinkles and blackspot, and has also other properties like antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. It is best source of blood purifier. Mostly, it is used in the treatment of acne due to its antiseptic and antibacterial properties that provide effects against pimples and breakouts to provide a youthful glow to your skin. It also reduces the oily secretion by the sebaceous gland.[14,15,16]
· Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadense):
Aloe vera is a most important moisturizer intended for a skin. Aloe vera rejuvenates skin, hydrates this and keeps skin layer looking fresh all the time. Aloe vera has anti-microbial property. In Aloe vera powder contains several nutrients like glycerine, sodium palmate, sodium carbonate, sodium palm kemelate, sorbitol, etc that are used to treat a various type of disease.[17]
· Sandal wood (Santalum alba):
The Sandalwood is common in india and it has an anti-tanning and anti-aging property. It is used in the treatment of skin disease, it has toning effect, emollient, antibacterial properties, cooling astringent property, soothing and healing property.[18]
· Orange peel (Citrus reticulate):
It has different nutritional source such as vitamin C, calcium, potassium and magnesium. It used to prevent the skin from free radical damage, skin hydration and oxidative stress. It provides the instant glow property on face, prevent acne, blemishes, wrinkles and aging.[19]
· Neem powder (Azadirachta indica):
It has an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic activity and highly beneficial for oily and acne prone skin.It is commonly used in antibacterial agents.[20]
· Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans):
Nutmeg is widely used in the treatment of fever and inflammation. It has an analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and anti-bacterial property. It helps in reducing wrinkles, fine lines and other signs of aging.[21]
· Rose petals (Rose petals powder):
Rose petal powder is rich source of anti-bacterial properties along with the positive effects of Vitamin K, C and B. It contains somenumber of antioxidants.[22]

Evaluation and Result:
1. Morphological Evaluation:
Some important morphological evaluation is colour, odour, appearance, texture etc. It shows the external characters of the formulation.[23]

2. Physicochemical evaluation:
Through this type of evaluation, determine some physicochemical property through the suitable parameters for all compounds that used in the formation of face pack such as-Ash value, Moisture contents, pH, and extractive value etc. [24]

3. Phytochemical Evaluation:
The aqueous extract of the herbal face pack was evaluated for the presence phytochemical constituents, such as carbohydrates, alkaloids, glycosides, tannins and volatile oil.[25]

4. Physical evaluation:
The particle size evaluates through the microscopic method. The flow p0roperty of the dried powder is determined through the Angle of Repose by funnel method, bulk density and tapped density by Tapping Method. [26]

5. Stability studies:
The prepared formulation is required testing of stability by storing at different temperature conditions for the period of one month, temperature conditions like, room temperature and 40˚C and were evaluated for physical parameters like colour, odour, pH, consistency etc.

6. Irritancy Test:
This formulation is used for only external surface. the prepared formulation is showing the absence of irritation, redness and swelling during irritancy studies.[27]

CONCLUSION:
Natural remedies are the best treatment of any disease, because these are safer than the synthetic ones. At a time, people need treatment for various skin problems without side effects, so natural remedies are best option for this. The herbal face pack is used to rejuvenate the muscles, maintain the elasticity of the skin, remove adhered dirt particles and improve the blood circulation. It is used in the treatment of acne, pimple, scars, and marks, and provides a soothing, calming and cooling effect on the skin. The natural face packs are used for controlling premature aging to the skin, wrinkles, fine lines and loosing of skin. It can provide natural face after using this. It is a very good combination of herbal face pack containing naturally available ingredients like multanimitti, turmeric, aloe vera, sandalwood, orange peel, neem and nutmeg.
