ABSTRACT:
The gene medicine technology is a viable source for developing therapeutics for a wide range of disorders in human beings. It includes potent therapeutics like plasmids containing transgenes, oligonucleotides, aptamers, ribozymes, DNAzymes, and small interfering RNAs which are powerful mechanisms for gene silencing to address desired location of drug in the body. Gene therapy has been utilized for the treatment of several diseases, specially cancer which can be achieved by the introduction of a nucleic acids such as antisense oligonucleotides or smallinterfering RNA to inhibit transcription or translation of a cancer causing oncogene. The present review discusses the recent developments in nucleic acid based targeted drug delivery.
